FAQs

  • Walking distance is all you need to discover most of the great places in Akrê, where you can indulge in the region's rich culinary traditions. Although the best Kurdish food is still served at home, some restaurants have successfully imitated the home-made food traditions with spectacular traditional atmospheres, such as the Xanedan Organic Restaurant located in the old town.

At Xanedan, you can enjoy lush and spectacular fresh breakfasts, traditional dumpling soups, and stuffed vegetables, all made with authentic recipes passed down from generations. Meanwhile, the Haji Karim Breakfast place in the old bazar is another classic eatery worth trying.

If you're looking for kebabs and rice dishes, head to the Sipe Resort and Akre River Valley Restaurant Qelîya Akre by Nujdar, where you'll be served some of the best in town.

  • Our estate offers a range of accommodation options with several rooms available. While some rooms come with beds, many hikers and backpackers prefer to experience the traditional Kurdish style of sleeping on mattresses and local Kilims with their sleeping bags.

We are happy to discuss your needs and availability, so please don't hesitate to contact us to make arrangements.

  • We can connect you with experienced and knowledgeable local hiking guides who speak English and can take you on a journey to discover the best-hidden treasures of this 3000-year-old city. Whether you want to explore the rugged terrain of the Zagros Mountains or uncover the secrets of the ancient old town of Akre, our guides will provide you with a unique and unforgettable experience.

  • Undoubtedly, the best time to visit the region is during Spring, which spans from March to May, with April being a favourite month when everything is green and in bloom. However, August to October is also an excellent time to visit, often referred to as the second spring, when you can witness the harvesting of pomegranates, figs, grapes, and other local produce, making your stay even more worthwhile.

Although the summers can be hot and dry, there are plenty of mountain resort escapes to cool off in, and the locals tend to adjust their routines to the later hours, which has its own unique charm.
